Both the French and the British players did brilliantly in the first week of the tournament, with the latter fervently supported by the home fans. Before suffering a valiant defeat against Aryna Sabalenka in the third round, Emma Raducanu beat 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova. Katie Boulter also sealed a superb victory against Paula Badosa, cheered on by the ebullient spectators on Centre Court.
