Speaking of unexpected and astonishing performances, we have to mention Laura Siegemund’s incredible run at the All England Club. The 37-year-old German player reached the quarter-finals of a Major for the second time in her career (after Roland-Garros 2020) without dropping a single set, before giving World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka a run for her money. This glorious adventure also enabled her to climb 50 places in the rankings (from World No.104 to No.54).
