Best moments of Day 2 by Emirates

Around the grounds at the Porte D'Auteuil venue on the second day of first round action
An emotional Caroline Garcia prepares for her final singles match at Roland-Garros
After Sunday’s decidedly Spanish flavour with the spotlight on Rafael Nadal, some of the French stars were the talk of the tournament on Monday.
When play began at 11am there was the possibility that the French public would have to say goodbye to two of their favourites with Caroline Garcia and Richard Gasquet preparing for their final Roland-Garros adventures.
As it turned out, only one survived - Gasquet lives to fight another day and we get to enjoy that picture perfect backhand a little longer - while an emotional former world No.4 Garcia waved farewell after losing in straight sets to American Bernarda Pera.
The baton was then handed to a man who very much represents the future of French tennis - the nation’s No.1 Arthur Fils - and the 20-year-old lit up Court Suzanne-Lenglen during a four-set win over Chilean Nicolas Jarry.
Most of the big names on court on Monday cruised through with four-time champion Iga Swiatek moving on, before men’s defending champ Carlos Alcaraz secured his passage into round two. Swiatek will next face Emma Raducanu in one of the standout matches of the second round.
Paula Badosa edged the popcorn match of the second day's play when she hit back from a break down in the third to beat former world No.1 Naomi Osaka.
In Monday’s night session it was relatively smooth sailing for top seed Jannik Sinner against Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech. The world No.1 had to fight back from 0-4 and 2-5 in the third set, but steadied the ship in time for a 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 victory. The Italian meets Gasquet in the second round.
A handful of surprise results saw defeats for men’s 4th seed Taylor Fritz, who lost to Germany’s Daniel Altmaier in four sets. The American was followed out the exit door by Argentina’s 18th seed Francisco Cerundolo who fell to Canadian Gabriel Diallo.
The women’s draw lost No.9 seed Emma Navarro who was completely outplayed by Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-0, 6-1 in 57 minutes.
More first round matches fill Tuesday’s schedule with Coco Gauff, Alexander Zverev, Gael Monfils and, fresh off his 100th title in Geneva on Saturday, Novak Djokovic among those looking for safe passages into the second round.
And there’s bound to be a carnival atmosphere next to Court 7 late in the day when Brazilian fans flock to support their young star Joao Fonseca who clashes with big-hitting Pole Hubert Hurkacz.
