The second edition of the Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault in Japan will take place from October 13 to 19, 2025, at Dai-Ichi Life Sogoen Tennis Court. The tournament will bring together 32 of Asia’s most promising under-16 players for a week of top-level competition on clay, under the watchful eye of Justine Henin!
Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault: Justine Henin, new ambassador!
The seven-time Grand Slam champion and four-time Roland-Garros winner (2003, 2005, 2006, 2007) will serve as the official ambassador of the program in Tokyo.
"An honor and a privilege"
Throughout the event, the former world No. 1 will be closely involved with the young participants: leading workshops, mentoring on and off the court, hosting coaching sessions, and taking part in the official opening ceremony at Pullman Tokyo Tamachi. As part of her ambassadorship, the boys’ and girls’ champions from Tokyo will be invited to train at the Justine Henin Academy ahead of their Paris appearance, and Justine Henin will also host a special coaching session during the Roland-Garros juniors tournament.
“Becoming the Ambassador of Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault in Japan is an honor,” said the player renowned for her iconic one-handed backhand. “Roland-Garros is where I experienced some of the defining moments of my career, and I feel privileged to share that legacy with the best Asian juniors. I fully support the FFT’s initiative to foster diversity in our sport, and I am excited to help the next generation in Tokyo. Through my academy in Belgium, I witness every day how the right guidance and opportunities can inspire young players to believe in their dreams and work tirelessly to achieve them. These values are at the heart of this competition.”

From Tokyo to Roland-Garros!
This new collaboration is also celebrated by KASA - the Japanese manga artist behind Break Back - who has once again designed the official tournament poster. The composition bridges Tokyo and Paris, weaving in the Eiffel Tower and Court Philippe-Chatrier to symbolize the path between the two capitals. “To mark Justine Henin’s selection as ambassador, I drew an image highlighting one of her most iconic shots: her legendary one-handed backhand. I integrated a few classic Japanese elements while emphasising the energy and beauty of her playing style. I hope every junior can perform at their best, and that the tournament is a great success,” said KASA.
Stéphane Barbat, Renault Global Marketing Partnerships & Brand Image Director, welcomed the ambassador’s arrival and the poster’s Tokyo-to-Paris narrative, saying: “Renault is proud to stand alongside the French Tennis Federation in supporting Roland-Garros Junior Series, a project that continues to grow in ambition and impact. This year’s edition in Tokyo is particularly special, with the arrival of Justine Henin as ambassador — a true icon whose presence will inspire every young player. We are also thrilled by the new poster, which beautifully captures the journey from Tokyo to Paris through the lens of manga. Supporting the next generation of Asian talent, and helping them dream bigger, is a mission we fully embrace at Renault.”
Alongside Justine Henin, one of Japan’s most iconic tennis figures will also take part in the event: Shuzo Matsuoka. He will be present for the Monday exhibition match as well as the opening party on Tuesday.
“I’m truly grateful that Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault will once again be held in Japan,” Matsuoka said. “For nearly 30 years, I’ve worked to support junior development, and I believe the key is exposing young players to the world stage. Last year’s event brought the full Roland-Garros experience to Japan - from the red clay to the international atmosphere - and it inspired all the participants. This tournament is a vital part of developing tennis across Asia, and I hope every player can feel the unique spirit of Roland-Garros through this opportunity.”
