Sinner smooth en route to QF

Jannik Sinner makes his move at just the right time towards the end of the third set, breaking Rublev in the 10th game to wrap up a 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 victory en route to the last eight in Paris.

It's 18 Grand Slam wins in a row for the reigning US Open and Australian Open champion as he sets up a meeting with Alexander Bublik on Wednesday.

It's now six consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals for the world No.1 and he's yet to drop a set here in the French capital this year.

Bublik beats fifth seed Draper

Alexander Bublik is a Grand Slam quarterfinalist for the first time in his career after he takes down the in-form fifth seed Jack Draper in four entertaining sets on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.

It was a nerve-jangler of a final service game from the Kazakh world No.62 who eventually wrapped it up 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 before collapsing onto the clay in celebration.

He walks to the net with a huge smile - as well as red brick dust - across his face and embraces the Briton who offers his congratulations.

“Standing right here it’s the best moment of my life,” Bublik tells a noisy crowd. He’ll play Jannik Sinner or Andrey Rublev in the last eight.

Wheelchair draws are out

The wheelchair draws have been made and competition gets under way on Tuesday.

Tokito Oda is going for the RG three-peat to add to his Paralympic medal from Paris 2024. He opens his campaign as No.1 seed against France’s Stephane Houdet. No.2 seed Alfie Hewett denied Oda at the Australian Open this year and is on the hunt for an 11th Grand Slam singles title – and fourth in Paris.

Hewett and partner Gordon Reid have dominated men’s wheelchair doubles for the last decade, banking 22 Grand Slam titles; they will be going for a sixth successive title in Paris.

In the women’s wheelchair singles, Paralympic champion Yui Kamiji is looking for a fifth title on the Paris clay. She’ll face fierce opposition from power players including defending champion Diede de Groot. The Dutchwoman is currently on a 52-match winning streak in singles at Grand Slams – her last defeat at a major came in the semifinals at Roland Garros in 2020.

All the wheelchair draws at Roland-Garros 2025

In the Quad singles championship draw of eight, the two to beat are Dutchmen Niels Vink and Sam Schroder, seeded one and two respectively. Schroder has contested the final on the last four occasions, losing in 2022 and 2023 to Vink, and last year to Israel’s Guy Sasson.

No.1 seed in the boys’ wheelchair singles draw is defending champion Maximilian Taucher, and in the girls’, Vitoria Miranda of Brazil takes the top seed spot.

Last year’s girls’ champion Ksenia Chasteau competes this year in the main draw of the women’s singles and spoke to Roland-Garros Magazine about the prospect of playing at Roland-Garros 2025.

Tuesday order of play

The first quarterfinals get under way on Tuesday and top seed Aryna Sabalenka and Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen open play with a blockbuster at 11am on Chatrier. They’re followed by the second quarter final of the day between four-time winner Iga Swiatek and Elina Svitolina. Lorenzo Musetti and Frances Tiafoe both go for a first RG semifinal, before Tuesday's night match which sees defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul meet.

Day 10 will also see the wheelchair events get under way. The draws for all wheelchair events were made on Monday.

More history for Novak

A few days after winning his 100th tour level singles title, Novak Djokovic is at it again as he beats Cameron Norrie to win his 100th Roland-Garros match.

The Serb becomes only the second man to capture 100 men’s singles wins in Roland-Garros history, joining Rafael Nadal in an exclusive club. Nadal claimed 112 during his career.

Djokovic stays on track for a record 25th Grand Slam singles title with a 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 victory to set up a heavyweight quarterfinal with Alexander Zverev on Wednesday.

Trophy town

Before the Novak Djokovic-Cameron Norrie match started on Chatrier, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Ousmane Dembélé paraded the Champions League trophy around Centre Court. Roland Garros neighbours PSG beat Inter Milan 5-0 in the final on Saturday night.

17:06

Djokovic cruising

On Chatrier, it's been a good opening passage for three-time champion Novak Djokovic who's a set up on Britain's Cameron Norrie.

And over on Lenglen there's another British player on court, fifth seed Jack Draper, up against Alexander Bublik and they're locked at 4-4 in the first set.

Boisson vs Pegula highlights

If you missed any of the incredible Lois Boisson-Jessica Pegula match from earlier today, here are the highlights for you to enjoy...

15:55

Dembélé and the Champions League trophy

There’s a party atmosphere inside Chatrier this afternoon. Moments after Lois Boisson’s incredible win over Jessica Pegula, none other than Paris Saint-Germain superstar Ousmane Dembélé emerges from the tunnel parading the Champions League trophy in front of a packed stadium.

Dembélé was part of the PSG team that beat Inter Milan 5-0 on Saturday night, a result that makes them the champions of Europe.

PSG are the big football team in this corner of the French capital, pretty much neighbours with Roland-Garros as their Parc des Princes stadium is around a five-minute walk from the tennis venue.

World No.361 Boisson beats Pegula

One of the biggest roars of the tournament comes from Court Philippe-Chatrier as French wild card Lois Boisson delivers the biggest upset of the event so far to shock third seed Jessica Pegula 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 amid a crazy atmosphere inside the biggest show court.

Boisson edged a marathon ninth game of the deciding set to break, converting her fourth chance for a 5-4 lead. But there was plenty more drama to come.

The 22-year-old then had to fight off four break points as she tried to serve out the match, eventually holding her nerve to scramble over the line in 2 hours and 40 minutes.

The world No.361’s fairytale home Grand Slam continues and she can now start planning for a quarterfinal on Wednesday against Mirra Andreeva.

14:30

Boisson bounces back

There’s a gigantic upset brewing on Chatrier as French wild card and world No.361 Lois Boisson steals the second set off a shellshocked third seed Jessica Pegula.

The American eased through the opener 6-3 before a partisan crowd roared Boisson back into the contest as she grabbed the second 6-4.

Pegula looks a little stunned out there right now. Every point the French 22-year-old wins is met with a deafening roar. Follow with live scores or through live radio below...

Griekspoor retires, Zverev through

Alexander Zverev is back in the quarterfinals, but not in the manner we expected. His Dutch opponent Tallon Griekspoor retires with the German third seed ahead 6-4, 3-0 on Lenglen after just 51 minutes on court.

Griekspoor had made the perfect start by jumping into a 3-0 first set lead before physical problems meant he could no longer continue.

Zverev plays Cameron Norrie or Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.

13:19

Monday star spotting

A quick walk through the grounds for yours truly at just gone lunchtime results in four top-ten player sightings - and none of them on either of the two main show courts. Adjacent to gate 23 at the far end of the site there’s not only Jack Draper melting forehands to within a few inches of his training partner’s baseline, but defending champion Carlos Alcaraz too right next door busy preparing for his quarter-final on Tuesday against Tommy Paul no doubt.

After watching a couple of games of girls’ top seed Emerson Jones’ first round win on Court 13, a few yards away Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen is hitting on Court 11. She faces top seed Aryna Sabalenka on Tuesday.

And as I'm about to duck below ground level back to the FFT engine room, Novak Djokovic comes hurtling towards me on his way from the TV compound to Chatrier. No collision, thankfully. Novak will be fully fit for his match against Cameron Norrie later today.

12:49

Mirra follows suit

Just minutes after Coco Gauff secured her quarter-final place on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Mirra Andreeva has done the same over on Suzanne-Lenglen.

The 18-year old No.6 seed was up against good friend Daria Kasatkina but managed to put all that aside to power through 6-3, 7-5.

A semi-finalist here last year, she is the youngest player to reach back-to-back women’s singles quarter-finals at Roland Garros since Martina Hingis (1997-1998).

Andreeva will next face either No.3 seed Jessica Pegula, or French wild card Lois Boisson, who are just taking to the court over on Chatrier.

Gauff sails through

No.2 seed Coco Gauff has booked a fifth consecutive quarter-final place here at Roland-Garros with a 6-0, 7-5 win over world No.20 Ekaterina Alexandrova on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

The 21-year-old was a finalist here in 2022 and is looking to add an RG crown to her 2023 US Open title.

She will play either Madison Keys or Hailey Baptiste, who face off in an all-American clash on Suzanne-Lenglen later today.

12:23

In the mix

The mixed doubles has been thrilling the crowds on the outside courts and has now reached the quarter-final stage.

All four top seeds are through and have their eyes on Thursday’s final.

Monday sees an all-British vs all-Italian affair as No.3 seeds Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori (pictured) face Brits Olivia Nicholls and Henry Patten on Court 14.

On the same court, No.2 seeds Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo are then up against the Mexican-British pairing of Giuliana Olmos and Lloyd Glasspool.

Many of the players are also doubling up (no pun intended) in other events. Arevalo is also on court on Monday in the men’s doubles third round, where he and partner Mate Pavic are No.1 seeds and defending champions; and Sara Errani is also in action today alongside Jasmine Paolini, who was knocked out of the singles yesterday. Errani and Paolini are second seeds in the women’s doubles and were finalists at RG2024.

Rapid recap of Day 9

On Sunday, half of the quarter-final slots in the men’s and women’s draw were decided as the singles competition gets to the pointy end.

While Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe headed through in straight sets, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti both had quite a fight on their hands.

On the women’s side, only Aryna Sabalenka got the job done in two: Elina Svitolina and Iga Swiatek had to come from behind to book their last-eight places, and Zheng Qinwen was on court for nearly three hours in her battle with Liudmila Samsonova.

Lee Goodall sums it all up nicely in his daily wrap, and you can also catch up with the Daily Highlights and Best Moments by Emirates.

And here’s Sunday’s shot of the day - another moment from the Murcia Magician (as Alex Sharp has named him).

11:00

Happy Monday

Welcome to Day 9 at Roland-Garros.

By the end of today, all the quarter-final slots will have been filled; there are already some blockbusters on the cards.

Today, Coco Gauff gets the action going on Chatrier at 11:00 when she faces Ekaterina Alexandrova, and over on Suzanne-Lenglen Mirra Andreeva and Daria Kasatkina are going to have to put their friendship aside as they vie for a place in the last eight. Victoria Chiesa recently wrote about how Kasatkina is playing with a new-found freedom here in Paris.

Day 9 - Match of the day session: Friend and foe

Order of play for Day 9

Second up on Chatrier, No.3 seed Jessica Pegula meets French wild card Lois Boisson, some 358 places below her in the rankings. Boisson has had quite the year - from tearing her ACL before RG 2024 to defeating players including No.24 seed Elise Mertens on her way to the fourth round this year. Dan Imhoff spoke to her about how she's using all the tools at her disposal to find an edge.

Other quarter-final hopefuls in action today include Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev and Australian Open champion Madison Keys.

No.1 seed Jannik Sinner headlines the night session, when he'll face Andrey Rublev in his bid for a first title here in Paris.
