The qualifying rounds for the Roland-Garros junior tournament begin on Thursday 29 May when 32 girls and 32 boys will hope to win two matches to reach the main draw, which will take place at Porte d'Auteuil from June 2-7.

Before those involved in the qualifying can dream about stepping onto Roland-Garros' famous clay, however, their fate will be decided at the Cercle Athlétique Montrouge and the Tennis Club de la Châtaigneraie in Rueil-Malmaison.

Boys' qualifying draw

Aside from top-seeded Indian Manas Dhamne, one name will attract all the attention: Cruz Hewitt, son of former world No.1 Lleyton Hewitt, will be playing in the qualifying for the first time.

The No.2 seed and world No.833 took part in the men's qualifying at this year's Australian Open, where he lost to Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-1, 6-4.

The qualifying format is the same in the girls' draw. Serbian Anastasija Cvetkovic and Chinese youngster Shao Yushan, ranked 29th and 44th respectively in the ITF junior rankings, will start as two of the favourites.

Top seed Cvetkovic has already reached a quarterfinal at an ITF W15 tournament, on the clay courts in Antalya, Turkey. As for the No.3 seed, Brazilian Nauhany Vitoria Leme Da Silva, she also reached this round last year, in Ribeirão Preto, 300 kilometres from São Paulo.
